Growing Together: Hanamichi Tours and Yoneda Farm Partnership

Hanamichi Tours has partnered with Farmers' Inn Zennoya and Yoneda Farm in Yachimata, Chiba Prefecture, to offer immersive farm-stay experiences that connect international visitors with rural Japanese life. This collaboration recently welcomed a group of young interns from the UK, marking the first Japan-based program of its kind organised by Hanamichi Tours. The initiative aims to provide participants with hands-on agricultural work, cultural exchange, and a deeper understanding of sustainable living practices in Japan.

During their 9-night, 10-day stay, the interns engaged in various farming activities, including planting ginger, sweet potatoes, and peanuts, as well as transplanting watermelon seedlings. They worked alongside local farmers for several hours each day, gaining practical experience and insight into Japanese agricultural methods. Meals were often shared together, featuring traditional dishes like tempura and okonomiyaki, fostering a sense of community and cultural appreciation.

Farmers' Inn Zennoya, operated by Yoneda Farm, has been open for about a year and is committed to providing guests with authentic experiences of Japanese rural life. The inn encourages self-sufficiency among its guests, who are responsible for their own cooking, cleaning, and laundry during their stay. This approach not only immerses visitors in the daily rhythms of farm life but also promotes a deeper connection with the local culture and environment.
